Pantry Door Bench

This customer had an old pantry door that they had a family connection to. The paint was chipping and peeling and it needed a little structural help. They wanted the crackled and peeling paint to remain. The intent was for it to sit at the foot of the bed and have shoes stored underneath.

The Door

The door had to be carefully cleaned and a couple of joints needed to be glued. I used a product specifically made to preserve crackled paint and stop future peeling/chipping.

Frame Built

I used clear furniture grade pine for the frame. The rails received a simple bead detail and the legs are slightly tapered.

Complete!

The completed bench is very rustic and the customer was very happy to have their door repurposed to live on for many more years.
